CUSTOMIZING BAITS
Here at Carver Custom Crankbaits is more than just a custom paint job. Here is a Repo Man that was waited in the tail end to bring the head up out of the water. My client wanted the bearing removed and a larger bearing put into place to make the head of the bait come out of the water more so it had better action.
When I custom paint a lure you can have me supply the blank or you can supply the blank. There are so many good quality baits threw Dinger, Cedar Run and Predator Bass Baits. I also do refinishes on other know brands and older baits.
My process is to inspect bait before painting. I water test bait, do a rough sand, and wipe the bait down with alcohol to remove any oils that may be on the bait. Next step is to lay several thin coats of primer onto bait and run it through a dryer system to cure paint before we move on to next steps.
The next step is painting the bait and layering with Iridescence, Pearls, Opaques, fluorescence, transparents, and some flake.
I use a high grade automotive clear, it gives the bait a perfectly smooth.. clear rock hard finish that will stand up to the test of time. Other epoxy's tend to be to thick and actually affect the bait tracking threw the water. I have tested a handful of epoxy's and I have found the perfect finish. Each bait gets 2 layers of epoxy to insure a great seal and finish.
Moving onto split rings and hooks. I use VMC split rings and treble hooks. There are a lot of outdoorsman that have preferences on this. If you prefer that I use different split rings and treble hooks I can do this for you baits. Our last step is to tune the bait so that when you get the bait you are ready to fish.
