CUSTOM TROUT NETS
As I mentioned on the HOME page I also have a passion with woodworking. I always wanted my own trout net, so I decided that I would make my own instead of going out and buying a nice net.
I new that it was going to be expensive, but a hand built trout net sounded better and would carry stories/adventures.
So I new I wanted Burl handle as it is so exotic and draws you into the piece. Next was material for the bow. Best woods to steam and bend are Birch, Ash, White and Red Oaks, Beech, Elm, Cherry and Hickory.
Each net gets 10 coats of clear, then buffed and polished. All trout nets get a high quality clear or black rubber bag. If rubber bag ever gets torn or cut the bags are very easy to replace. If cut, you can do a hot fusion on material and it is a very string bond.
So my jig that I made for a complete finished net is 26'' in length, 13''W x 18''L Head. Bag Depth is 12''.
If you would like a longer handle for a guide net I can do the handle up to 48'' in length, 13''W x 18''L Head. Bag Depth is 12''.
I have some Burl Maple, Box elder Burl in stock. If there is a certain burl handle you would like to provide that is fine as well.
For now the bow of the net is the only size I am doing, But handle length I can do between 26'' and 48''.
